What Do Subjects Want to Know?

What are they asking, what are their pleas, their demands? Who are they asking to have an audience with and if that audience is granted will they be allowed a conversation?

What do they desire?

I first noticed the traffic cone when I moved back to Nashville from Montana. I had seen them before, don't get me wrong,  but this time I gave them an audience, serious consideration. My brother and I took over my dad's contracting business along with his contract with Madison Water. Our responsibility was to repair the roads that were dug up by the water company. We could not work without the assistance of the traffic cone, we would have been killed by traffic. They possess the persuasion to save life, the power to put a city at a standstill.

Almost immediately they started appearing to me. They would peak from behind a dumpster or from beside a bush. I started to see them in isolation (or solitude, I cannot  be sure which) I would look up at a hillside and at the top would be a traffic cone. How did it get there, why was it left, what is it doing, what does it want?

I am interested in these loners, did they defect or were they abandoned, or is there something more sinister going on? Are they watching over us or spying? No matter where you go in the world, they will be there. But not where you expect them.

Have I become their puppet?
